Watie Eugene (Gene) DuBois, 86 year old lifelong Monkey Island resident passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Gene was born September 27, 1932 to Watie and Martha (Wood) DuBois in Dennis, OK. Gene attended Grove High School where he excelled as a student and graduated early at 16 years old with his older brother class of 1949. After a few years of traveling and working construction Gene married the love of his life Ruth Ann Petty of Goodman, MO January 2, 1954. Gene was drafted into the Korean War where he was first sent to Camp Chaffee for basic training before attending Spartan School of Aeronautics where he became an airframe mechanic in the US Army. Upon returning he attended O.S.U. School of Geology where he maintained and graduated with a perfect 4.0 gpa. After graduating college, he started DuBois Construction and Pipeline Company which he operated successfully for over 30 years before retiring. Gene and Ruth enjoyed traveling throughout their lives with their family and friends.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents Watie and Martha DuBois, brother Morris DuBois, wife Ruth Ann DuBois, sons Dennis and Barry DuBois, daughter Teresa DuBois, and grandsons Ricky Sala, Jr. and Christian DuBois. Survivors include one sister Ramona (DuBois) Cash, three granddaughters: Amy Burrell, Ashley Epperson, Angelica DuBois, and grandson Christopher DuBois, great grandchildren Levi, Devon and Michael Burrell, Danielle and Bradon Kelly, Bryce Epperson, Keatyn Kelly, Abigail Jones and Nova DuBois and 5 great great grandchildren and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Worley Luginbuel Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be in the chapel at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2019. Interment will follow at Rolston Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com or on the Worley Luginbuel Facebook page.
